MAC West pulling off two rather surprising victories in Eastern Michigan over Oakland and Western Michigan over VCU. Not that either Oakland or VCU are likely to make much noise outside of conference, it is just surprising to see decent wins from the West.

Oh, and yes it is crazy to call for two teams from the Southland.

And speaking of VCU, I'm leaning towards the Old D revival this year. Not like its a novel pick, but they're looking pretty good.

Lastly, how about Cornell knockin off a decent Alabama squad followed by a good win over UMASS. This is the same team (only with a healthier LD) that lost handily at Indiana last year. Two big tests coming up in SHall and Syracuse. If they win both of these, it might justify those top 25 votes that you were complaining about.

I have to say that considering how good that MAC was for a little while there in the 1990s and early in this decade, it's a bit depressing to have wins over Oakland and VCU be something to crow about.

And yes, Cornell has looked really good. Harvard is looking good also, and even Columbia nearly knocked off DePaul last night. The Ivy League looks to be returning from its bad last few seasons. But Cornell is clearly the class of the conference.
