Complete 2011 NCAA Tournament Analysis

In this post I am going to aggregate all of the analysis I will be doing to help you fill out your bracket. Please click here to see last year's analysis, to get an idea of what's coming.

Note that when this post first goes up most of the links below will not be live. That's because I haven't written the posts yet to fill it in. So please stay tuned for all of my previews over the next day or so. The link to this post will stay on the top right part of the page so you can easily reference back. I will also start doing a daily look at the Vegas lines of individual games, and I hope I can help you with those, but that won't be in this post since it won't help you fill out your 68 team bracket.

I'm going to warn you right now that I'm going to be giving you a take with a heavy statistical basis. It's the way I've blogged all year, and it's a way that has given me a lot of success in the past in picking the bracket. And first, let me give you some of the tools I'll be using:

Pomeroy ratings
Sagarin ratings
Bracket Lesson #1: Which upsets to pick
Bracket Lesson #2: Clutch vs Overrated
Bracket Lesson #3: Tough vs Easy draws

Is it just me, or does the southwest link take you to the southeast breakdown? Too many late nights studying statistics?

Looking forward to your Southwest picks :)

Sorry, you're right about that. For some reason I thought Southeast was the next one to do. I've already started the Southwest preview - it'll be up before the games start tonight.

Link should be fixed now.

Jeff,

Just wanted to thank you for your breakdowns. I have found them to not only be very helpful but seem to go with the picks that I had made. Its more reassuring with an even further breakdown. Keep up the good work. Glad I found your blog last year!

Glad I could help!

I also had fun discussing the games during the Tournament last year, so I invite you to stay again this year so we can chat we in the post comments.

I still don't have a link for Southwest Region....

I haven't written the southwest preview. Well, I take that back, I've written about 2/3 of it. I'll post it when it's complete. Check back around 5pm today.

I am literally on the edge of my seat to see what you have to say about the Final Four. I stumbled on this site looking for some analysis and good Lord you have delivered in spades brother.

Glad I could help. And I do appreciate you finding the typo. That kind of stuff will confuse people, so it was good to fix.

This is the best analysis on the net.
When can we look forward to the Final Four predictions?

I've already started working on the Final Four post. I hope to have it up late tonight.

Sorry guys, internet failures prevented my Final Four picks from going up tonight. I'm going to try to work on it Wednesday morning, so stay tuned. I want to have it up early in the day so you guys aren't scrambling Wednesday night to finish your brackets.

Jeff,

Awesome, just awesome. Thanks for the big time analysis. Also, loved the final four post and how you provided thoughts towards multiple scenarios.
