A New Job, A New City, And The Future Of My Blog

Instead of a Morning News post this morning, I have a life update that is going to impact the future of this blog, which I have worked on for close to ten years now.

I have accepted a new job. It's an exciting opportunity, but it is also a job that is going to mean more working into late nights, and more working on weekends. I will be moving to a new city, which is going to take up a large chunk of the next three weeks of my life, and even after that is done I simply will not be able to devote the same time to my blog that I could before.

This blog will continue on. I still have a passion for college basketball and analytics, and will continue to write. I'll continue to make snarky jokes on twitter (though that will happen less often in the future as well). I might have even more exciting stuff down the road (I'm working on a book, for example). But the current nature of daily blogging simply is no longer realistic.

Please bear with me for the rest of this season. I will do my best to continue putting out bracket projections on time, but other than that I will play it by ear. Morning News posts will have to end, but I will try to do occasional blog posts about individual topics.

The goal long term is to have a different format for this blog that can work with my new job. Namely, weekly blogging, instead of daily blogging. Hopefully I will be able to go more in depth on individual topics.

-----------------------------------------

On a sentimental note, I want to thank all of you for being a part of my blog for so many years. This blog started out as my internet ramblings with no intention for anybody to ever read it. It has been incredible how many great people I have met because of it, and how many friends I have made, even if many of you are just little internet avatars in my brain.

The last ten years have been a blast, and I hope to do this for ten more years, in some form or another. Please bear with me as I make this major change in my life, and I hope to rejoin you on the other side.

Thank you.

Awesome news man, congrats. I just have one request--Please keep calling out the *experts* such as Goodman and Dauster as that makes my day when you make those guys look marginal.

Haha, I will try to continue being a watchdog. Thank you.

Best of Luck, enjoyed reading your posts, and will continue to do so even though on a weekly basis. Sadly, your Blog is one of the few daily hoops site that isn't blocked on my work computer - will miss that daily update while at work. Enjoy your new chapter of life.

I've really enjoyed this blog over the past few years. Since my team hasn't been anywhere near the tournament I haven't had anything to argue with you about... but it has been my best/only way of keeping track of what's going on in the wider college hoops landscape and I think you've opened a lot of people up to looking at the sport from a more statistical/in-depth standpoint. Sorry to see it (kind of) go, but great work.

Been spoiled all these years. You've provided great content and I don't know what I'm going to do without it. Congratulations though on all the new and exciting changes in your life.

Congratulations! I have been visiting here almost daily during the college basketball season for the past few years. It has definitely been a blast, from the conference previews all the way to March Madness round-by-round predictions. Everything is very detailed and with numbers + sound reasons. I can't really imagine all the efforts behind it. Thanks!

I need to thank everybody again for all of the kind words. It is so nice to hear.

I found this blog about 9 years ago--when I was in 8th or 9th grade. Now I'm a grown man in my first ever company bracket and I'm still using your site... Have always been a bigger NBA fan than a college one, but am a huge basketball fan overall-- and love reading sound, analytically based opinions about the game, and you've always been been ahead of the curve there.

Just wanted to say thanks for everything you've put into this and wish you the best at your new job.

Congrats on your new venture. I've used your blog to help with my picks the last 6 years or so. Since I think too much sometimes, it helps to have those picks and those awesome numbers you bring to us. This year sucks now that there is 10-15 teams that could win it and it's more difficult to pick a team to win, let alone a dark-horse team. Have fun during the greatest tournament on Earth!

Thank you, Ray. That's very kind, and it also makes me feel very old.
