W-1.5 BP65

Conference tournaments are now under way. The last regular season games (outside of the Ivy League) will be played this weekend. I'm previewing all of the conference tournaments, and those previews can be found here. I have not yet completed the previews for the biggest conferences, because I'm waiting for the regular seasons to complete so we will know all of the brackets, match-ups and at-large implications. But all of the tournaments that are underway, or will begin this weekend, have previews already up. The next BP65 will be out after Saturday night's games are completed.

Before getting to the bracket I want to again remind people to stay civil and to come prepared with facts and statistics. We've had some good debates in the comments, and I want to keep that up. As always, please remember to read About The BP65 to understand what the BP65 is and how teams are ordered.

I'll have more thoughts in the comments to this post, depending on what topics people bring up. For now, here's how I see things ending up:

1. KANSAS (BIG 12)
1. KENTUCKY (SEC)
1. SYRACUSE (BIG EAST)
1. DUKE (ACC)

2. Kansas State
2. PURDUE (BIG TEN)

16. BELMONT (ATLANTIC SUN)
16. QUINNIPIAC (NORTHEAST)
16. LEHIGH (PATRIOT)
16. JACKSON STATE (SWAC)

Other teams considered, but that just missed the cut:
Rhode Island, Notre Dame, UAB, Mississippi State

Decent resumes, but not good enough:
Charlotte, Cincinnati, Wichita State, Arizona State, Washington, Mississippi

Long shots, but still in the at-large discussion:
Saint Louis, Seton Hall, South Florida, Minnesota, William & Mary, Marshall, Tulsa

Still alive, but pretty much need a miracle:
Boston College, North Carolina, Northwestern, Texas Tech, Northeastern, VCU, Akron, Illinois State, Portland, Louisiana Tech

Why is Temple so low?

Not sure how Utah St. is a 13. Their resume is way better than Cornell or Memphis. You could probably make a way better argument that they deserve to be a 9 than a 13.

If Temple loses out, they would be a 5 at worst. How do you figure Temple as a 7 and how do you figure Xavier ahead of Temple? That makes no sense at all. Temple could be a 3 by winning the A-10 tournament. You're not even close on that. It's actually pretty embarrassing for you. And BC and UNC still have a remote shot? At what? If either team won out and lost in the ACC finals, they wouldn't even be considered. What a joke.

I hate to say it, but I can see Michigan St having an easier time playing their way up to a 3 seed and Pittsburgh having an easier time playing their way down to a 4 seed, just based on what they're likely to face in the next week. I've been on Michigan St.'s case all year, and in no way is this an endorsement of Michigan St. actually deserving a 3 seed. It's just been that type of year.

Good to see you finally moving Vandy up a bit. We will never blow anyone out of the water, but we will grab a lead and pull out games with our talent and gameplan, a perfect combination for the tourney

I agree with the others. Your A-10 teams are all out of whack. I see know way Temple is below Xavier. I don't see how you can have VaTech at an 8 but Richmond at a 9. All 3 A-10 teams need to be higher.
