MIDNIGHT MADNESS!!! (... kinda)

So the college basketball season started. Did you notice?

There's a pretty good chance that you didn't. The NCAA decided to move the first day of practice up a couple of weeks this year, and so pretty much every Division I team is having practices this weekend.

But as far as I could tell, not a single major school had a significant "Midnight Madness" event last night. Not all schools have them, but the ones that do appear to mostly still be aiming to hold their Midnight Madness events in mid-October. To be fair, I understand preferring to hold it closer to the first regular season games (and after more people have given up on their college football team).

But marketing be damned, it is officially the start of the college basketball season on BasketballPredictions. I always give you a new bracket projection in the week after Midnight Madness, so I'll have that posted at some point this coming week.

As in past years I'll be previewing the first week of the regular season. Keep an eye for those posts, which should start up in the final couple of weeks of October.
