Villanova wins the big east tourney, beating Louisville and Pitt on successive days. Enough for a #1 seed? Or is it likely that the best the Cats can hope for, is the top #2 slot?
If they win the Big East tournament they'll have a great shot at a 2 seed, but I don't see any plausible scenario for them getting a 1. They would need several teams ahead of them to have clunkers in their own conference tournaments. Just look at things like Villanova record against the RPI Top 50 (5-5) compared to the other teams vying for a 1 seed.
Villanova does have a pretty good route to the Big East title since they get to avoid UConn & Pitt until the finals. It's still a long shot, but it's possible. But I don't see any realistic way they get better than a 2 seed even if they pull all of those upsets.
