Still alive, but pretty much need a miracle:
Virginia, Charlotte, St. Louis, Providence, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, UTEP, Akron, Bradley, Utah, Washington, South Carolina, San Diego, Boise State

Duke has lost 2 in a row and still a 1 seed over UT and others?

I think its time for you to start making some cuts near the bottom... Boise St. and UTEP, for sure

I am continually making cuts. In regards to UTEP and Boise State - go look at their schedules and imagine that they win every game remaining until their conference tournament final. If they do that they'll have a pretty impressive record and RPI. It's obviously a long-shot, but it's still mathematically possible. Remember, just because teams have bad resumes now doesn't mean they can't get hot. I'm sure some people thought I was an idiot for including Kentucky on the bubble a month ago...

Now as for anonymous - it's possible that you're new to this website, but these are end-of-season predictions. So I'm constantly getting pestered by posters who want to know why I'm not overreacting to every single loss or two-game losing streak. Don't you think Duke is going to beat UNC at home in Cameron? I do. So after that, Duke will climb right back into the top four.

I understand that Tennessee is #2 in the country right now. And if they beat Memphis this weekend they'll be in great position to earn a #1 seed (I'll probably move them into a #1 seed in Sunday's BP65 if they can pull off the upset). But the fact is that the SEC is a lot weaker than the ACC. And if I had to project right now, I'd put Tennessee at 16-2 in the SEC and Duke at 14-2 in the ACC. That makes Duke more impressive. And that's why I'd give Duke the #1 seed.

I was wrong about UTEP and Boise St.

It is interesting to note that RPI Forecast says that the best SDU can do now without winning the conference tourney is 85ish. The rest of the teams down there can do at least 70.
